Trafalgar Square is a public square in the City of Westminster, Central London, laid out in the early 19th century around the area formerly known as Charing Cross. At its centre is a high column bearing a statue of Admiral Nelson commemorating the victory at the Battle of Trafalgar.
Trafalgar Square is surrounded by museums, galleries, cultural spaces, and historic buildings. It also has a café on the square.
The National Gallery has some excellent paintings collections and is free to visit. The additional bonus is that every summer, the London Symphony Orchestra offers a free open-air concert there. After your visit, stroll to Chinatown for some food.
