Step into the Viking Era at Eiríksstaðir, which has a unique place in Icelandic history. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and scents of a recreation of the farmstead of Erik the Red, discoverer and settler of Greenland. Eiríksstaðir is the birthplace of his son Leif Eriksson (Leif the Lucky), who discovered North America.

Home of Eirik the Red & Leif the Lucky Hidden away in West Iceland, the Dalabyggð region was the starting point for one of the most exciting chapters in the history of mankind: The Viking Age expansion continued westward from Iceland and took explorers first to Greenland and later to the shores of North America. Visitors are welcomed by guides wearing typical Viking Age clothing and gear. Our guides are well versed in the history of the farm, its inhabitants and the Viking Age. Tours are on-going throughout the day, every half an hour. We welcome your arrival!
