Mungo Jerry is a longstanding stalwart in Malaysia’s Chinese food scene, specialising in bah kut teh. Literally translated bah kut teh means pork bone tea, and this local dish is a Malaysian favourite, especially around dinnertime. The lean and tender pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices is done really well in this air-conditioned restaurant set along Jalan Raja Laut. There are two reasons the bah kut teh here stands out – regular bah kut teh restaurants serve white rice with their soup, but Mungo Jerry has a choice of onion fried rice to accompany it.
