This museum of black history is great place to take in the cultural and historical marks left on Augusta by the African American community as well as take in inspiring art exhibits that showcase some of the South's most talented artists.
The Lucy Craft Laney Museum is the only African-American museum in the Central Savannah River Area. The small house museum was the former home of Miss Lucy Craft Laney, who founded the first school for black boys and girls in Augusta. She started the first kindergarten for Black children in Augusta and founded the Lamar School of Nursing for Black women.
