A winsome place from Michelle Carpenter, who’s been cutting fish for 20 years. Her innovations include buttery yellowtail trimmed into meat slabs then marinated in a citrusy ponzu doctored with chile sauce, fresh cilantro, and jalapeño.

For those looking for something beyond a standard spicy salmon roll, this sleek sushi den will maki your day. Founded by longtime sushi chef Michelle Carpenter, the menu features a large selection of standard nigiri and sashimi, as well as slew of Michelle's original creations, ranging from inari sushi with fried eel and shiso to panko crusted eggplant medallions topped with tuna and avocado. There's also vegetarian sushi as well as non-raw dishes such as soy, brandy and honey glazed duck breast and miso-marinated chilean sea bass. And if you can swing it, the 10-course omakase is well worth the $120 per person price tag. Just be sure to reserve it at least 24 hours in advance.
