The Shepherd's hut sits just on the edge of Firle, one of the South Downs most iconic villages. It is a very private space, in it's own little meadow, two minutes walk to the shop and three minutes to the famous Ram Inn with Lewes and Brighton nearby
the hut is in it's own paddock overlooking the south downs, close to the pub and the little village shop. From March to the end of September i will only take two night bookings during the week end, in the week one night bookings are fine. Over the Christmas and new year period i will only take two night bookings and over Easter and the for the Love Supreme Festival a three night booking as a couple.

  • The Sheppard's Hut era un lloc tan bonic, acollidor i petit. El recomanaria! Peter i la seva filla van ser molt acollidors i es van assegurar que l’estada fos perfecta. No puc esperar a tornar-hi!

    Jennifer2019-09-11T00:00:00Z

    Harriet2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • La barraca de Pere és bonica. Aquí vaig passar un temps tranquil i preciós i, sens dubte, tornaria a un ritme de cor

    Sophie2019-07-30T00:00:00Z

Private self contained cottage in the grounds of a Georgian manor house in Crowborough. Cottage is a studio space with kitchenette. Additional single beds can be added to accommodate more guests in the shared space. With heated swimming pool (during summer months) and huge gardens close to the Ashdown Forest, mainline station to London and Tunbridge Wells. 40 mins to Brighton.
The cottage is a self contained open plan space on one level with its own entrance. There is a small kitchen and bathroom. It has its own entrance and driveway is gated. The room is fitted with a king sized bed and a single day bed. An additional single can be added but this does restrict floor space. The pool should be open from June till September weather permitted. I leave some breakfast essentials in the cottage fridge so that you are able to help yourselves in the morning and there are many supermarkets within Crowborough. I am a housewife with two children, during the school holidays we may be around using the pool and gardens but it is large enough for all to share. The cottage also has its own private Patio area. We have two dogs who are very excited about new visitors. Pets are welcome and the grounds are secure for them to run around. Crowborough mainline station is 10 minutes walk away which will get you to London Bridge in a hour, and the wonderful town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is a 10 minute drive ride away, the coast is 40 minutes drive.

This elegant self-contained Edwardian wing of the main house is particularly suitable for families. It features a large fireplace with wood-burning stove, large comfortable sofas and a private garden. The accommodation includes a double bedroom featuring 2 beds together which can be pulled apart, a double let-down bed in a corner of the large living room and 2 single divans to one side of the dining area. Perfectly situated for events at Charleston, Glyndebourne, Firle, Lewes & Eastbourne, as well as the Seven Sisters, the Downs & the sea. All linen, towels and cleaning are included.
Pekes Wing is part of our 'Distinctly Different' Pekes private estate, centred on its ancient Tudor Manor House, and including other picturesque buildings like the old double-Oast House. Guests in the Wing can enjoy facilities such as the heated indoor Swimming Pool and Tennis Court, and stroll around and enjoy the extensive gardens and parkland. The Pekes estate, well away from any road, is set deeply into the very quiet and peaceful Sussex Weald farm lands (organic - no sprays), and has beautiful views across ancient unspoiled countryside. Beyond that there is the stunning coastline, the seaside towns, historic places like Battle and great houses and gardens. For children there are two nearby exciting adventure venues, as well as farms to visit, etc. East Sussex has great charm, and Pekes is very much part of that. The Wing adjoins but is separate from the Manor house; if both houses are taken the connecting door can be opened. It is very peaceful and snug, and has a charming 'column garden' to sit out in.
The immediate neighborhood of Pekes is the Sussex Weald with its numerous footpaths and lanes running through ancient farmland and many little woods. Just a few miles away is the South Downs National Park, incorporating the stunning Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, wonderful sheep-grazed downland, lovely natural beaches, charming villages and some lovely houses - all of which has inspired artists and writers for nearly 200 years. The seaside towns of Eastbourne and Brighton are not far off, and it's a short drive to historic Battle, and the fateful events of 1066.

My house is a light airy modern house with a large garden perfect for families or friends sharing. It is all on one floor with a large central living/dining area (with a double sided wood burning stove) and three double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom or shower room. The kitchen has an oven and hob, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and freezer with plenty of room to have drinks or snacks round the island unit!! There is a wonderful cafe opposite if you fancy a full English!!
The house is perfectly positioned for those who love the countryside but don’t like to be in the middle of nowhere. It’s good for short stays and weekend breaks but, as the house is a well equipped home from home, it would also be great for a longer holiday to use as a base for exploring the lovely countryside, National Trust Houses, and coastal areas all within an hours drive.
The house is just outside the small town of Heathfield with ample shopping at Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and the Co-op as well as several attractive independent shops. The beautiful villages of Mayfield and a Burwash are about ten minutes away, with their welcoming pubs, and there are also plenty of country walks locally. You can get to the coast - Hastings and Eastbourne are the closest - in about forty minutes and Tunbridge Wells is half an hour away in the opposite direction.

We’re directly on Avenue Verte, perfect for London to Paris cycling trip! Your bikes can be locked in our garage. The End Cottage was built in 17th century & has many of its original features still well preserved and intact. We very much enjoy the mixture of modern & vintage features. The End Cottage is in a village called Rotherfield, with towns of Crowborough & Tunbridge Wells nearby. There's number of pubs within walking distance & plenty of nice country walks near by.
On the ground floor, we have a sitting room, with a big comfy sofa, which is facing beautiful wood burner (and less important TV), and a breakfast bar with two 'tractor seat' stools. Fully equipped kitchen is half a level down past the sitting room. Kitchen has a view & access to the back garden, which is equipped with seating area. We have BT cable tv, with number of various channels, including BT Sports and there's a good wifi throughout the house. Your room is on the 1st floor. There's a day bed, which is a single during the day/night and can be extended to a double for the night too. Understandably, there's much less space left within the room once the bed is extended. There's a desk area / work area. There's a small landing and a bathroom on the first floor too. This bathroom is shared between us. On the second floor, we have our main bedroom, where I & my wife stay. As you may be able to tell from the pictures, there is a lot of exposed wooden beams throughout our house. Number of these are fairly low and you will need to be careful not to hit your head if you're taller than us (I'm 175 cm and I just get away with it). Stairways are rather narrow & possibly steep, so you need to be careful & fairly agile.
We live in a little village called Rotherfield, East Sussex, which is about 2 miles away from Crowborough and 7 miles south of Tunbridge Wells, of Kent. Our village has two pubs - Kings Arms & The Catts Inn. We've been to Kings Arms many times as this is less than 100 steps from our house. Lovely old looking pub with great food. There's also lovely cafe in the village, The Courtyard, and we recommend going there for breakfast / coffee / cakes. There's couple of hairdressers, antique shops & little local grocery store. For any other shopping you'd need to go to Crowborough or Tunbridge Wells. We are about one hour drive south east of London and we both commute for work. London is also accessible from Crowborough train station, about 2 miles from the house. Crowborough to London is a direct train and takes about an hour. On our days off, we tend to head away from London. There's beautiful Ashdown Forest few minutes drive away, nice tows of Tunbridge Wells or Lewes not far either. We often head towards the south coast, which is about 40 minutes drive away. There's lot of country walks around us, lovely country pubs, number of old traditional villages such as Mayfield or Battle.

Ho tornem a fer!

This is a cosy old cottage annexe in the mid-Sussex countryside, with easy access to numerous public footpaths, the Cuckoo Trail, Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells and Lewes. Hosts on site to offer you a warm welcome. It is close to Heathfield with a good selection of cafe's, restaurants and takeaways. Heathfield also has an excellent Deli (great selection of Italian wines), renowned for its Friday 'Pizza Night'.
The cottage is the original part of this house and dates from the mid-1800's. A cottage industry thrived here for many years, where Mrs Eliza Foord, and then her son Thomas, made ginger beer, lemonade and other soft drinks for the thirsty farm workers. In the local streams one can still find remnants of the old glass bottles, in particular the pointed-bottom ones that the farm workers used to push into the ground to keep them upright. The cottage is full of character, offering old world charm with modern facilities. Guests will have a separate entrance, a breakfast room and a lounge with a log burning stove for their sole use. There is a pantry (low ceiling) where there are tea and coffee making facilities, a toaster, fridge, freezer, sink as well as a microwave for the preparation of easy meals. Please note that there is not a full cooker in the cottage. There is ample off road parking, free Wi-Fi for guests and use of the large garden. This is an ideal spot to spend a peaceful and relaxing time. The cottage is within an easy drive of Rudyard Kipling's home, Bateman's, at Burwash as well as Lee Miller's at Farleys in Chiddingly (also a pleasant cycle ride away, which you can combine with a good pub lunch at the Gun Inn). We are also within driving distance of several other beautiful houses and gardens (Pashley Manor Gardens, Michelham Priory as well as the Ashdown Forest (Pooh Corner). The price listed is for double occupancy. Extra guests are charged at £25 each per night.
Set in the Sussex Weald there is a wealth of things to see in the area. There are numerous public footpaths in the vicinity, including the renowned Cuckoo Trail and the Sustrans Cycle Route 21 passes close by. A short drive will get you to Eastbourne, Lewes, Tunbridge Wells or Battle as well as the Ashdown Forest with its famous Pooh-Sticks bridge at Hartfield. A little further will get you to the famous medieval town of Rye or the seaside resorts of Brighton and Hastings. The Bluebell Railway is a must for the steam enthusiast or anyone who would like to take an interesting step back in time. For younger guests there is also Blackberry Farm Park, Drusillas Zoo and Knockhatch Adventure Park. There is a wealth of country pubs in the area serving a good range of food.

You’ll love my place because of the wonderful views across open countryside, the spiral staircase and the tree growing through the balcony. It's as close as you can get to a treehouse with all the comforts of home. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
Gorgeously romantic detached annex with stunning views across an area of outstanding natural beauty. Generously proportioned studio room with French doors to large private balcony with large tree growing through it. Spiral staircase to downstairs kitchenette and shower room. Access to beautiful shared garden which backs onto open fields. Sleeps 2 very comfortably. Self catering. It's on a tiny little lane with trees meeting over the road in places. There are lots of public footpaths including one that goes through next door's land and down through fields to the woods. Treetops is an ideal retreat or lovenest - it's wonderful space for getting away from it all and right into the countryside; to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature; to heal, create music or art or to study. It's very much a cosy country property rather than a stylish hotel setting but it's nicely and very comfortably furnished in rustic style. Horses clop along the lane outside and birdsong fills the air. There is a farmer along the lane who has equipment in use and large vehicles during the week sometimes so it's more reliably peaceful at weekends. There's a deck with a shared hot tub and a patio with a built-in barbecue and seating which you are welcome to use. Should you require a bottle of chilled champagne on arrival this can be arranged with the owner. Treetops has undergone major renovations recently, including a new balcony made of local Sussex oak by local craftsmen in the traditional Sussex style. The bathroom now has a new white suite with much bigger shower and a heated towel rail. Upstairs it has new carpet, curtains, rug, cushions, TV, mattress, pillows, linen, blinds, a power socket with USB points, a little dressing table with a mirror and hairdryer and a more romantic light above the bed. The kitchen has new quarry tiles on the floor, new worktops, sink, an integrated oven and glass hob and the washing machine, which has only been used 3 times in as many years, has been replaced with a dishwasher, which will hopefully get more use and make guests feel properly off-duty and relaxed! Speaking of additions to the garden to help people relax, the new hot tub spa is a wonderful place to wind down and de-stress. It's on a deck in the middle of the garden overlooking the fields and hills beyond for miles and it really is blissful. However, having read the instructions it's not suitable for children under 8 (for safety and hygiene reasons) and two new Shepherd Huts (Meadowsweet and Heartsease) have been built at the bottom of the garden for couples. To avoid disappointing people, especially children, and to ensure the shared facilities are not over-populated, the maximum number of guests allowed in Treetops is now 2 and they need to be adults. If you would like to book for a larger group of adults it is now possible to book Treetops, Heartsease and Meadowsweet at the same time. Please see our other listings for more details and to check availability: www.airbnb.com/h/heartseasehut and www.airbnb.com/h/meadowsweethut. The owner is a music teacher and 2nd degree Reiki practitioner who lives in the main house with one child. Reiki treatments can be arranged during your visit and other therapists can visit to offer Aromatherapy massage and Reflexology sessions. (Please note that prior notice is needed and that sometimes staff are not available due to other commitments). Although smoking is not allowed inside, it is permitted on the balcony.
Herstmonceux is a lovely little Sussex village with a pub (the Brewers Arms), a French brasserie (The Sundial), a fish and chip shop that also does very good burgers, chicken, halloumi and pies (The Willows) and a really good Indian restaurant (Eastern Promise). We've got two convenience stores and a few other shops. It's about 15 mins walk to the village from Treetops. If you don't mind driving or longer walks, there are plenty of good pubs that serve excellent food within easy reach. The Merrie Harriers in Cowbeech is about a mile a half away and it's a favourite amongst locals - a very traditional pub with beams and ingelnook fireplaces, good food and beer and a lovely garden. The White Horse in Bodle Street is at the other end of the lane and does good pub food and has a nice atmosphere. The Bull's Head in Boreham Street (about a mile and a half) have a beautiful garden and do great food including excellent home made pies. The Lamb in Wartling (near the castle) is similar but more gourmet (and pricier) and the Giant's Rest (by the Long Man) is also very good after a walk through the countryside. Tucked away in historically rich 1066 country it is ideally located for walking, horse riding, cycling and painting. For nature lovers there is an abundance of local bird life and the nearby marshes and levels on the way to the beach at Pevensey (15 minutes by car), where there's another castle. 5 mins from the South Downs National Park it is within easy reach of Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells, Hastings, Brighton, Ashdown (Pooh Bear) Forest and Forest Row Country Park. There is fishing at the local trout farm, golf, tennis, falconry, archery, pottery, the windmill at Windmill Hill, and of course, Herstmonceux Castle and the Science Centre and Observatory. You can go sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and paddleboarding from Eastbourne or Cuckmere. Flying experiences/lessons can also be booked locally. Other nearby attractions include Bateman's (Rudyard Kipling's house), the Bluebell Railway, Sheffield Park, Michelham Priory, Standen House in East Grinstead (a treasure trove for lovers of the Arts and Crafts movement), Great Dixter House and Gardens in Northiam, Scotney Castle Garden in Lamberhurst, the White Horse at Alfriston and Long Man at Wilmington.

Based just off the main High Street (the A265) in Burwash, East Sussex. Cairndale gives guests a traditional, quirky, English style, 1930's built cottage experience with many of its period and original features still intact. Suitable as an accommodation base to explore this beautiful English village, famous for being the home of author Rudyard Kipling. Additionally it is less than a 5 min walk along from local pubs, eateries, shops and close to public footpaths across the High Weald.
1 double bedroom with an en-suite shower, 1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom and toilet, country style kitchen with dishwasher, oven and large fridge freezer, living room with Digital Freeview TV and Netflix etc...
Burwash is a rural village and civil parish in the Rother District of East Sussex, England. Situated fifteen miles (24 km) inland from the South Coast port of Hastings, it is located five miles (8 km) south-west of Hurst Green, on the A265 road, and on the River Dudwell, a tributary of the River Rother. In an area steeped in history, some nine miles (14 km) to the south-east lies Battle Abbey and eight miles (13 km) to the east is Bodiam Castle. Its main claim to fame is that for half of his life Rudyard Kipling lived in the village at Bateman's. Kipling used the house's setting and the wider local area as the setting for many of his stories in Puck of Pook's Hill and the sequel Rewards and Fairies. There is a Kipling room at "The Bear" public house, one of two pubs located along Burwash High Street. Rudyard's son John Kipling, known as Jack, fell during World War I and is named on the village memorial at the end of Bell Alley Lane. He was named after Rudyard's father, the artist John Lockwood Kipling, C.I.E. who provided illustrations for the classic story collection The Jungle Book.
