It’s across from the Gritti Palace Hotel and next to the Grand Canal, a water-taxi ride from the city’s best-known sights. A private balcony overlooking the canal is the perfect spot for an afternoon spritz and snack while watching the city pass by. The grand piano stands ready to play in the evenings. The villa’s double-door entrance leads to a pair of elegant salons that show off its scale and style, with original stucchi twining up the walls and colorful frescoes gracing the ceilings. Today, they’re set up as a formal living and dining room whose terrazzo floors are covered with antique furniture. Off the dining room, find an intimate breakfast room and a fully equipped 21st-century kitchen, where sage-green cabinetry echoes the delicate tones of the frescoes in the other rooms. Step out of either of 2 entrances and into the heart of Venice. Walk to neighborhood cafés and restaurants for morning coffee and post-sightseeing dinners, and board water taxis for a trip down the Grand Canal, past palaces, churches, museums, and more.
