The c1855 Country House is set on the private grounds of the old Newtown grocers, which has now been turned into a multifunctional venue by local design partners Megan & Ollie. The accomodation in the shopkeeper's residence has been lovingly restored complete with original heritage features. Wee Varrich

Wee Varrich nestles within a delightful landscape; a fusion of carefully sculptured plantings of trees, shrubs, hedges, lawns and vines, against the power of the Stanley State Forest. Situated on the edges of Stanley village, the entrance to Varrich is a winding path through tall eucalypts. The property is situated on 2.49 hectares on land that was mined during the Gold rush era of the 1850’s. Wee Varrich is a fully self-contained cottage adjacent to the main house and secluded by plantings.

Situated at your doorstep is the Historic Reform Hill along with the famous Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. From the comfort of the back verandah you will enjoy views of the olive grove & beyond the lawns to paddocks with sheep and lambs. Delights inside the cottage include a rainwater shower, bathtub, fireplace, an espresso machine & super comfy bed linens. Our recently renovated cottage loves the environment & uses rainwater, solar power & vintage European furniture.

This is a lovely property located in a quiet court. It backs onto the Ovens River so the views are amazing with natural bush land which is seen through the lounge room and dining room windows. It has an open fireplace and ducted heating. In the main bathroom there is a bath spa. There are bikes to use on the scenic tracks along the river. If you're looking for a peaceful environment and like restaurants, cafes, hotels and shopping but still want the bush setting, this may suit you.
