Shepherd's Hut set in castle ruins.

Set in the rural village of Sheriff Hutton, located just 20 minutes north of York and 1 hour from Whitby. Free parking. Your shepherd's hut is set in the enclosed, inner courtyard of the C14th castle ruins, your own private space for your stay. Atmospheric and perfect for relaxing, enjoying a quiet drink in the evening in front of the fire pit & gazing at a starry sky or the impressive runs. We have 3 other stays, for couples, around the castle available if you would like to visit with friends.

The Hut in the Wild

Come and stay in our beautifully finished, tin shepherds hut at the bottom of our garden. We are located in the rolling countryside with extensive views over the vale of York. After a day of exploring this AONB, there’s nothing like cooking tea over the fire pit or wood pellet pizza oven followed by a dip under the stars in our rustic hot tub. There is 1 double bedroom with en-suite, large lounge with Sky tv, sunroom/2nd bedroom with double sofa bed and a dining table and there is a separate toilet. The cottage has a spacious outdoor area with a BBQ and fire pit. It's a 15 to 20 minute walk into town, shops, restaurants, pubs etc. Beach access very close.

Located in the stunning Howardian Hills, this is a peaceful and romantic location. A perfect all year round escape. You park your car and the hut is a 5 minute walk from our house- make sure you pack suitable footwear. We can transport your luggage to the hut. The hut has cooking facilities (oven and a hob), there is also a fire pit for barbecues and a picnic table for outdoor dining. You have exclusive use of a hot tub which is right next to the hut.
