This unique, 100yr old beachside cottage is named for the Kōtare (kingfishers) that make the cliffs their home. All are welcome here! Once in the cottage looking out to sea, you’ll feel miles from the city yet downtown is just a 10 minute drive away. Located right above a semi-private beach you can enjoy the view from your deck, or simply step down to the sand.

The studio with HRV ventilation, heatpump and double glazing is ideal for solo travellers, couples with or without one small child. Double glazed cedar french doors provide a seamless flow from the kitchen and living area to a private deck for alfresco dining. Guests can relax on an outdoor sofa while enjoying a meal on the deck. Set in a garden setting, the house is self-contained with an eco composting toilet, unlimited WiFi, full shower & fridge/freezer and kitchen. Maximum of 2 guests.
