Local activities include trout fishing, hiking, kayaking, mushrooming, truffle hunts, Waldara weddings, sightseeing in the Blue Mountains, Jenolan Caves, Kanangra Walls and Mayfield Garden. Mittagong is also close to Bowral, Moss Vale and historic Berrima which all offer a variety of markets, art galleries and local wineries.

The lake bed is visible during the dry years and the lake will slowly reappear during wet years. The lake is currently the fullest it’s been in many years.
