Go for a walk on the thousands of acres of nature trails filled with wildlife near this guesthouse. Start the day with coffee on a private deck to plan a route. After hiking, return to a cozy nest with a refreshing shower and comfy bed. Santa Monica Mountains/ Topanga Guesthouse The studio apartment boasts a well-equipped kitchen with full refrigerator for plenty of storage, two induction cooktops, one microwave, a Breville electric oven/toaster and an outdoor gas grill. Have your dinner on a private redwood deck and patio, shaded by coast live oak trees. The rental has oak hardwood floors, walk in shower and all new fixtures throughout. Quiet A/C and heat with a designated private guest parking space included. Enjoy easy access to many local beaches and endless mountain trails for hiking and biking in Mediterranean climate conditions. Malibu and Topanga Beaches have world-class surfing conditions. Site seeing, restaurants and tourism abound. Santa Monica/Venice and the Los Angeles area is easy to access. Charming and clean with a comfortable queen sized bed, this 220 square foot space with private deck is perfect for couples. Use of the grounds with over thirty oak trees makes for a delightful getaway or stop over while traveling. We provide maps and advice regarding hidden beaches and locations in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, Malibu Creek State Park and access to Cultural activities in the city of Los Angeles. Children and pets are negotiable. The Guesthouse shares a breezeway with the main house. It has its own private entrance and peaceful private patio deck area. Guests privacy is our priority. Once contacted, we are open to children traveling with parents, although there is only one bed. Dogs will be considered so long as they are not aggressive to our cats. No pets are allowed on the furniture. Although the property is on a residential street, it is very much part of the wild land, intermixed with deer, coyotes, and bobcats as well as migrating birds and butterflies. We provide one designated parking space. A car is somewhat necessary in the mountains. There is a seasonal beach bus which travels along State Route 27, Topanga Canyon Boulevard. Uber and Lyft are spotted more commonly of late. Buses run along Pacific Coast Highway from Malibu to downtown. The new EXPO train is available is Santa Monica, connecting travelers to many city locations. Once here, endless hiking and walking possibilities under the oaks and into the chaparral and coastal sage is available on foot. The hosts are well versed in the native habitat here and can advise travelers.

This guest suite blends vintage furniture and artwork with a 70's-inspired decor. Original wood-paneled walls and countless potted plants complement the gorgeous mountain views and wildlife that can be seen from the windows and private balcony. NOTE: This unit is below our home with an active toddler & across the hall from our office. It can be noisy at times. We overlook horses, so you may hear occasional neighing. If you have allergies to animals, this space may not be best for you.

Oak Forest Retreat

Topanga is a quiet village in the Santa Monica Mountains. Its name means “Where the mountains meet the sea”. We are in an ancient oak forest in beautiful nature just walking distance to Topanga State Park and its hiking trails. It’s only 10 min to the beach/Malibu and 20 min to Santa Monica/Venice or Woodland Hills. The town center with restaurants, grocery stores, gift shops and our library are close.

Topanga Sanctuary in the Oaks

Our studio under the Oaks is like a tree house with a large deck area for you to unwind, explore and enjoy! The home is on a very quiet street that dead ends into the state park. Most of the traffic is neighbors walking dogs :-) The studio is attached to the main house but is completely separate, there is no access to the main house.
