One of Henry VIII historic castles protecting Falmouth bay paired with St Mawes castle on the opposite side of the estuary. You can take the ferry across the bay. Walk up castle drive to the headland, it has best ice cream van and it is a great spot to watch all the boats going into Falmouth. Also visit The maritime museum in falmouth.

Something of a hidden gem, Pendennis Castle is a well preserved little C16th castle made of Cornish granite, located on a headland above Falmouth, on the south Cornwall coast. Owned and maintained by English Heritage, it was built by Henry VIII nearly 500 years ago to defend against anticipated European invasion. Tourists flock to Tintagel instead, because of the King Arthur legend, but there is much more castle to see here, much better preserved & without the tourists, queues and traffic congestion that sometimes occurs during peak summer season around Tintagel. There’s also more to visit nearby too, with Falmouth & the National Maritime Museum just a few minutes’ walk down the hill from the castle. Check the timings to catch the excellent free castle tours, usually at 10.30, 11.30 & 12.30 most days.

Pendennis Castle is an artillery fort constructed by Henry VIII near Falmouth, between 1540 and 1542. It formed part of the King's Device programme to protect against invasion from France and the Holy Roman Empire, and defended the Carrick Roads waterway at the mouth of the River Fal.

You can't miss it! Literally.... but I guess that was the entire point. Worth a visit to this English Heritage site.
