The Strand’s vast film section is near the back of the first floor, where the ladder-high shelves are crammed with an amazing mix of popular, rare, and used books. You can find a strong selection of memoirs, screenplay collections, or even books on film scoring. Sometimes you find what you’re looking for. Often you discover something even better. Upstairs in the Rare Book Room, check out valuables like The Adventures of Antoine Doinel: Four Screenplays by Francois Truffaut, inscribed by Truffaut to film critic John Simon for $1,000.

Nearly 18 miles of books. Need I say more? If you are a fan of used books, this place is the mecca. It is also a great place for souvenirs and authentic, NYC gifts. Check it out!
The largest used bookstore in NYC by far. Incredible selection of books on three floors.
One of my favorite spots in all of NYC. Stacks and stacks of books old and new.
Three floors stacked high with a diverse collection of books, new and used.
Lose yourself in the book labyrinth. Most iconic independent bookstore in the US

“Absolute best cafe in the city. Everything made with seasonal, local ingredients in their little kitchen. Nothing mediocre has ever come out of their kitchen.”

“Greenwich village has so much cultural history and Washington Square is bang in the middle of it with buskers and entertainers, chess playing, and general colorful New York arty types. Tip: On Macdougal St just next to it are some great take out places to grab food to eat in the park, the most legendary of which is "Mamoun's Falafels" -- delicious, vegan and under $5!”

“1800s Italian bakery still going strong. A NY tradition. In addition to the bakery up front, there is interior seating in a traditionally gaudy Italian interior. Also a gelato stand inside.”

“Traditional market for italian food of all sorts. Small and iconic. I go here for olives, artichoke, and the take-home frozen pasta. They also make sandwiches at the counter.”
