延長620mの遠浅の浜。９０％の珪酸を含む石英砂は、文字通り真っ白でサラサラの砂。夏にはカラフルなパラソルが咲きみだれ、弧を描く浜辺にそって並ぶ椰子の葉パラソルが、トロピカルムードをより一層盛り上げています。

夏の海水浴シーズンには60万人を超える客が訪れる、近畿地方屈指の海水浴場で、白い輝くようなサラサラの砂浜に人気があります。 毎年7月30日と8月10日の2回、白浜花火フェスティバルが行われています。 海水浴場の横には水着のままで入れるしらすな温泉（入浴料100円）があります
