Marcello (The owner) is in most days and his cafe is somewhat of an Auckland institution. Always full enough to enjoy, with great food and some amazing take away sweet delights.

Go for the French Onion soup! It's the best in, well, anywhere but France. Coffee is great, and views across Lake Pupuke are nice too.

Great Coffee made by great Baristas. Not fast, but always good. Perhaps the best Mince on Toast in Town (Get an extra Poached Egg).

Trips to the outer Auckland Islands depart from here. Trips to the North Shore are $8 and take 10 minutes. Waiheke Island (a MUST see) fares are $36 return and the journey takes roughly 40 minutes.

One of Aucklands smallest, most private and rarely used beaches. With a rope swing! If you swim out, it's possible to climb onto a rock shelf on the right and watch the world go by.

We like beaches! It's the busiest beach that we'd recommend on this side of the water, but it's larger, open, great for families, has toilets and a shower.

Nice little spot to get amongst some greenery on our doorstep. There's always something going on down there, touch rugby, cricket, runners everywhere.

If you're in Auckland for a short time, be sure to at least get close to the SkyTower even if you don't intend to go up. . You'll probably catch sight of crazy folks jumping off the top (with ropes!).

Kohi is very small, the quietest of the three bays and is probably the nicest. 'Cafe on Kohi' is one of Aucklands nicest Cafes.

Saint Heliers is one of Aucklands most affluent suburbs. The beach is nice, especially at high tide. Cafes & restaurants are across the board good. The bakeries off the main strip are often a bargain.

Devonport is beautiful. Lots of old classic Kiwi Villas, a really relaxed feel, a nice promenade to walk on. Plus if you take the ferry across you'll get some great views back to the City.

This park is SO hilly. It feels lie it never ends. Which is a gift and a curse. It's rarely used by anyone, despite being just off Ponsonby Road. Be sure to go down to the bottom section.

At absolute low tide you can walk an insane distance out. It feels wrong. Wear decent shoes. No jandals. Not very suitable for very young children.

Point Chev beach is great for swimming. Be sure to go at high tide. It can get busy, but there are lots of swimmers and it's great to get out onto one of the floating pontoons.

If you're in the area (for The Museum perhaps), The Domain is a great place to wander, and enjoy. If you're feeling energetic, try the Bush Walk. 2 minutes in and you wont believe you're in a City.
