If you've had your fill of Lebanese bakery, try something different at True North. Lovely wood panel cafe with booths, it's a great place to get a burger or bagel and wash it down with a local beer or cocktails.

Food Scene

This is the hottest little Lebanese bakery in Coburg! And a 5 minute walk from my place. Incredible range of savoury Lebanese bakery treats like Zaatar pizzas (tip ask then to put fresh onion and tomato on) and spinach and cheese - all cooked in a pizza oven. It's inside a small shop too - so you can pick up incredible marinated Persian feta and soft fresh Leabanese bread. It's super budget friendly - you can get a coffee and bakery item for about $5!

Taste of Thai is absolutely delicious! It's pretty basic inside in terms of ambience, so I usually pick up some Thai with a bottle of wine from the Liquorland across the street when I'm feeling like a night! They'll deliver too.

Don't be fooled by the fact this little chicken shop is in the Coles carpark, this family run place knows chicken! Tasty marinated chicken and crunchy chips, tabouli and other salads. Perfect when you're feeling a bit naughty. They close about 7pm, so don't leave it too late!

Zaatar is a fab little bakery with so many yummy savoury and sweet Lebanese bakery treats. Set up like a cafe, it has a little more ambiance than Al Alamay.

Parks & Nature

Coburg Lake is a huge gorgeous park area! Walk around, have a BBQ, let the kids run on the play equipment, and if you're feeling energetic take a walk along the Merri Creek Trail. This trail winds along the creek towards North Fitzroy. It's a perfect little getaway into nature!

Getting Around

Coburg Train Station is a 5 minute walk! But far enough away not to hear the trains at night from my place. It's on the Upfield line - it goes through stops through Brunswick, North Melbourne before going into the City Loop. You can be in the City in about 25 minutes. You need to buy a Myki card at the train station from the attendant or from the machine. You can find the timetable on the PTV website.

Catch the number 19 tram down Sydney Road - jump off at Brunswick, Royal Parade Park, Melbourne University, Queen Victoria Market or all the way into the city. Takes about 30 to 40 minutes to go all the way depending on peak hour. If you're going to Brunswick or the city - faster to get the train! You need to get a travel card "myki" before you get on the tram. Pick one up at the train station or at the newsagent close to the corner on Sydney Road, close to the corner of Bell St.

All the Essentials

Firstly, there are two Coles in Coburg across the street from each other! One used to be Bi Lo and I think they keep them both open so not to lose the real estate. I'd recommend crossing the street to the Waterfield one - bigger range of products, has a bakery in store and has a Liqourland next to it.

Delish treats, coffee and organic everything available every Saturday morning at Coburg Farmers Market at the Coburg Primary School - 92 Bell St. Entry is a gold coin donation and remember to bring a shopping bag with you. Please note it is not at 180 O'Hea St! Air Bnb listing keeps changing my listing! It's definitely at the primary school at 92 Bell St - much closer to my place.
