Run now by the son, the restaurant was founded by the personal check to John Huston, director of Night of the Iguana, the film that made Puerto Vallarta famous. Great fusion of Asian and Mexican in a cute setting in the heart of the Romantic Zone.

Great food and spectacular views. Very lively scene, sometimes with a small band. Isabella, the owner is an absolute hoot!

Known as one of the best places for Mexican cuisine. Notice I said 'cuisine.' This is not a place for tacos and burritos. It's in a typical Mexican neighborhood along the river and that only adds to it. It's a place where gringos in the know go, not your typical tourist. The decor dedicate to Frida Khalo is terrific! Tell the head water, Cuco, that Miguel says hello!

A truly authentic French bistro in the heart of historic Puerto Vallarta. I love their steaks and they have a great European wine selection. Small, intimate feeling, great for a quiet dinner for 2. Not touristy.

Located on Los Muertos Beach, consistently known as one of the top places in town. Dining on the beach lit by their romantic torchier is a treat. After dinner, you're a 5 minute walk to all the nightlife of the Romantic Zone.

The family that owns this converted their lovely Old Vallarta villa into a wonderful restaurant. Dining on their terrace with spectacular ocean and city views makes you feel like you've been invited to dinner by the family. You can wander around and see how a local Mexican family of means would have lived. The food is good, not always excellent, but the atmosphere, the charm, the views, the very attentive service and the moderate prices all make it worthwhile to me. Plus, very few tourists know about it!

Drinks & Nightlife

Mostly gay (but very welcoming to straights) sophisticated, upscale, martini bar in the heart of the Romantic Zone. Live music most every night. If you get a chance to listen to the band Piel Canela, do NOT miss it!
