Great gastropub in Stockbridge run by the famous Scottish chef, Tom Kitchin. Serves great Scottish food and is family-friendly. They do take walk-ins, but I would recommend booking in advance! www.scranandscallie.com

One of my favourite restaurants in Leith (if not in Edinburgh!). Great Scottish pub with a variety of tasty dishes and drinks. Good for brunch, lunch or dinner. Would recommend their french toast and bacon, their enormous Scottish breakfast/fry up (which comes in a skillet pan) or their macaroni cheese - but you won't be dissapointed with any dish! www.roseleaf.co.uk

If you like Thai food, this little restaurant in Stockbridge is lovely. I'd recommend booking as it gets very busy (it's been high on TripAdvisor for a while!) www.nokskitchen.co.uk

Great gin bar that is housed in the same place as the Edinburgh Gin distillery. They also do gin masterclasses and gin tours. It's not just gin though as they also do great cocktails and drinks other than gin! Open every day except Monday. www.headsandtalesbar.com
