Food Scene

An icon in Chamonix because the pastries and cakes are refined, delicate and delicious. The coffee is smooth and nutty. A perfect cheese omelette with salad for 8 euros is uncommon in Chamonix. The brunch is complete and there's plenty of room for everyone, including the terrace on the main pedestrian avenue.

The best italian food in Chamonix, at least in our book. Delicious pizzas, pastas, vitello tonato and traditional desserts. We've always been able to get a table without a reservation but if you're a party of 4 or more, it's better to reserve in advance, especially if you'd like to have dinner by the river. Take-away is also available.

Fusion by the river, this eclectic new restaurant has quickly become a must in Chamonix due to its intelligent and accessible menu. With French, Swedish, middle Eastern and Thaï working there, this place is almost impossible to describe - better have a look at the menu and reserve a table by the river in advance ;)

Of course you'll get a proper burger here, but also crepes, and more fast food treated with love and pride. Small place with only a few outdoor tables, it's more of a take-away saviour than a restaurant, still the best of its genre.

The best croissant in France. Enough said. Plus one of the best ice-creams downtown during summer, and coffee to take-away.

Chic and cleverly set upon glass balconies over the river Arve, the name of the restaurant says it all, including the traditional French cuisine, music and even the aquariums. The check might not be for the faint of heart depending on what you chose. Definitely recommended.

Great local vibe for cocktails, beer. Food is served during regular meal times, and people seem to love it. Also check Elevation 1904 next door, not listed on Google or Airbnb but a great spot for locals. The barman rocks and by the way, holds the medal for the best Espresso Martini!

The 30 minute hike, easy (you can even reach it by car). The vibe, unspoiled. The waterfall, mighty. The food, good golly! An omelette, coffee and pie at the end right in front of the waterfall makes this place one of our Chamonix faves. Open from June to October.
