It's hard to pick a category for Lees Market. It's a grocery store with great prepared and gourmet foods, bakery, deli, etc It has a very good and inexpensive cafe for breakfast or lunch. The liquor and wine department has lots of everything both low and high end. Locals can't go there without running into at least 5 people they know.

Southeastern MA has a very large Portuguese population and is blessed with many terrific Portuguese restaurants. Portas is both the closest one and our favorite. I challenge you to find better food at more reasonable prices anywhere. Two good entrees and a bottle of wine can be less than $35 and the food is to die for

Every Wednesday evening for over 30 years, weather permitting, a group of musicians (including one of your hosts, Steve) gather on the fishing docks at the end of Main Road to play bluegrass and Americana music. People bring chairs to sit and listen. If you pay a stringed instrument, bring it and join in. It's free. Starts about 7 PM. Great little piece of small town New England. And Westport Sea Farms Oyster Bar is right next door.
