32-minute drive. The highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. Paved path for easy access, but it IS uphill. There's also a staircase next to the waterfall if you want to climb all the way up to the top (you can also drive to the top for the view).
Once at the top of the falls walk over to the lodge to get a bite to eat and enjoy the mountain views.

418 Amicalola Falls State Park Rd32-minute drive. The highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. Paved path for easy access, but it IS uphill. There's also a staircase next to the waterfall if you want to climb all the way up to the top (you can also drive to the top for the view).
Once at the top of the falls walk over to the lodge to get a bite to eat and enjoy the mountain views.
20-minute drive. GREAT view, and really worth it. We walked up from the trailhead and it took about 20 mins. We took sandwiches and had a fun picnic at the vista. Easy 2.0 mile out-and-back trail. Only 436 feet of elevation gain.

28-minute drive. Strenuous hike, but has the best view in the area. And if you can get past the "strenuous" part, it's a really fun hike. The very first hike we took together when we first started dating!
4.5-mile out-and back trail. 1500 feet of elevation gain. It takes around 1-1.5 hrs to hike up. Once at the top there are a lot of places to pick from to take in the view.

This drive has a lot of areas you can pull off the side of the road to admire mountain views. Be ready for a lot of curves in the road! After driving for a few minutes you will come to Stonepile Gap, a roundabout now with a bunch of stones in the middle. Go North on Hwy 60 when you reach the circle to continue up the mountain. When you reach Woody Gap there is parking and toilets. This is also one of the trailheads for Preacher's Rock hike.
