This espetacular art museum designed by famous Brazilian Architect Oscar Niemeyer is shaped like an eye. The largest art museum in Latin America, it was elected by North American guide Flavorwire as one of the 20 most beautiful museums in the world! The museum has approximately 7 thousand work pieces, in a space of 35 thousand square meters of built area, in addition to 17 thousand square meters of exhibition areas. Besides the permanent work, you can enjoy temporary collections, a nice cafe and a neat store.

The Botanical Garden has a total area of 278 thousand square meters, including a forest with preserved Atlantic forest trees and plants. The garden contains numerous plant specimens from Brazil and other countries, spread over boulevards and iron and glass greenhouses, the main one with three vaults in the Art Nouveau style, inspired by the Crystal Palace in London, from the 19th century. The greenhouse is heated and maintains Atlantic Forest species such as Caraguatá, Caetê and Palmito. From its interior, it is possible to have a privileged view of the French-style garden. Great place to take pictures and go for nice walks.

Well preserved historic homes make this area (right across from the apartment), very special. Cobble stone walking area, lots of small bars restaurants, museums.. Home of BAR DO ALEMÃO (famous German restaurant and bar), 2 of the oldest churches in town, museums, bars/restaurants with live music, numerous street shows and the SUNDAY FAIR. You can't afford to miss it! Just walk out the building, cross over the tunnel and you will be there.

Buffet style restaurant, where you pay only for what you eat. The food selection is more gourmet than the average buffets in town. Today I had Shrimp risoto, fillet mignon with a cheese crust, salmon with 2 awesome sauces alcaparra and a wine one, Cod fish, salads etc. Make sure to leave some room for the desserts, they are to die for! $$$

Neighborhoods

Batel is 5 minutes from downtown by car. Several bus lines, including Jardim Social/Batel 365 and Campina do Siqueira/Batel 801 will take you there, besides Uber, etc. Home of a couple of nice Malls, lots of nice restaurants and bars (higher price tag than downtown). Avenida Vicente Machado, for example, is one of the hottest spots in Curitiba's nightlife, with several options of bars and clubs. The Avenue attracts hundreds of visitors looking for fun, some famous options are the Barba Negra, Bar do Durva, Quintal do Guima and JPL Burgers, Hard Rock Cafe and many others. For burgers and bites I like Kharina, great price for the area.

Around the square you will find several bars, bistros, bakeries, restaurants and cafes that are well liked by the locals. The Spain Square look was inspired in Spanish architecture, the predominant colours were those of its flag which nowadays is no longer seen. The Knowledge Lighthouse Miguel de Cervantes has a library where several books related to Spanish literature are available to the population. There's also a lot of stuff in Portuguese and in other languages like English and French. Saturday is the busiest day, because of the Antiques Fair. If you are in town with little ones, make sure to look online for children activities offered by the City, as they change over time.
