Gino's is nearly synonymous with gelato and ice cream in Dublin. They have several locations in and around the city centre, but the coolest one is right next to Spar on South Great George's Street. Stop in for some amazing gelato or crepes after you hit Berlin D2 on Dame Lane or The George on South Great George's Street for drinks!

Leo Burdock's is an Irish institution. Their first location, on Werburgh Street, has been in continuous operation since 1913. Leo Burdock's expanded and opened up more shops in the early 20th Century, but shrank back due to food and fuel shortages during the World Wars. Since the 1940s, though, Burdock's has done nothing but expand. You can now find them throughout County Dublin. You can't go wrong with a cod and curry chips!

Bunsen is our favorite burger place in Dublin! They do one thing and they do it well -- burgers. Their menu is so small, they print it on their business cards. Just burgers, cheeseburgers, french fries, and sweet potato fries. They also have milkshakes and a selection of beers. Whenever we want burgers, we go to Bunsen! This location is across the street from The Temple Bar, and so it's usually busy. There are other locations in the city if you want somewhere a bit quieter, check out their website: https://www.bunsen.ie/

Yamamori is a higher-end sushi restaurant. They have amazing food but be prepared to spend a bit if you're hungry. They serve black rice by default, which -- if you've never had it before -- tastes a bit like barley. If you don't have a very adventurous palate, you can ask for white rice. We strongly recommend the strawberry lemonade cocktail, as well.

"Ireland's Oldest Pub", The Brazen Head, traces its origins back to a coach house which existed on the banks of the River Liffey at least as early as 1198. Nowadays, the pub is one of the area's foremost tourist attractions. Made up of several unique rooms, each with their own decor and character, The Brazen Head is a patchwork quilt of a building. Dublin Castle is one of the more curious castles we've been to. A mash of architectural styles from the past 800 years makes this castle quite interesting visually. The castle tour is relatively cheap (€10-€12 for adults) and on it you'll see the River Poddle (now deep underground), a river which used to flow into the Liffey, causing a small, dark tidal pool. The name Dublin comes from the early Irish "dubh linn" which means "black pool". The Dubhlinn Garden, around the back of the castle, sits atop the former site of this tidal pool.

This stunning gothic cathedral has been a Dublin landmark for nearly a thousand years. As well as being the home church of Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, who was the Dean here from 1713 - 1745, it's also the final resting place of Strongbow (1130-1176), known for his leading role in the Norman invasion of Ireland. A statue of Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness, grandson of the Guinness Brewery founder Arthur Guinness, stands outside -- he financed a major renovation of the cathedral in the mid-1860s. Jameson is a must-see while you're in Dublin. Their tour guides are extremely knowledgeable about the history of the brand and the process of distilling whiskey. They have a great selection of whiskeys that are only available in Ireland, and some that are only available specifically from the distillery, if you want a really special gift to take home.
