The Historic Village at Allaire was once an iron-producing, factory-town known as the Howell Iron Works, Co. The Village was a self-sufficient community containing a carpentry and pattern making shop, a blacksmith shop, a bakery, a boarding house, a blast furnace, mills to finish iron products, a school, a church, a general store with a post office, and workers’ home. Iron produced at the village was shipped to New York City by wagon and steamship.

The holes vary from a short, drivable par 4 to a long, risky par 5, with some strong par 3 holes mixed in. Even at its modest length of 6457 yards, this course offers a stern but fair test to all golfers.
Shark River is a par 71 that has a USGA course rating of 70.3 and USGA slope rating of 130 from the blue tees. The course is open through the winter, weather permitting, with temporary tees and greens. Mobile concession cart for snacks & refreshments provided from March until December and at other times are available through vending machines.
Tee times are available through the tee time reservation system with the purchase of a Monmouth County Resident ID card or a Non-Resident Reservation I.D. Card. Reserve a tee time on-line or call
