Where to Take Kids

This is the most well known Smithsonian Museum. There are dinosaurs, gemstones and much more. Like all Smithsonians, it’s free but I’d arrive early.

Plenty of green space and a waterfront deck that runs from the historic Navy Yard to Nationals Stadium. Theres several restaurants along the waterfront. And in the summer there’s a splash pad and wading pool that’s only a few inches deep. There’s also many free events during the warmer months including Friday night music and movie nights.

Take the Circulator!

The DC Circulator is a local bus with specific routes for the National Mall, Eastern Market to Navy Yard and the Wharf and other high traffic areas. The buses are clean, efficient and cost only $1 per trip (which you can pay in exact cash/coins or using a SmarTrip card). It’s one of the best ways to get around!
