This small restaurant has great authentic Chinese street food made from healthy ingredients. They have a variety of Dim Sum and noodle dishes (both rice and regular). I always order the "Vegetarian". It's super yummy. You can add various sauces after ordering to make it your own. Added bonus, it's only a 5 minute walk from the house.

Parks & Nature

10 minute walk from our house. This is one of the most popular trails in boulder. At this trailhead you will find a network of 3 trails. Mt. Sanitas (ascending a mountain with 1340 feet of elevation gain), the Valley Trail which is a gravel path that is slightly uphill, and Dakota Ridge that parallels the Valley Path, but is more of a hiking trail in the trees. Something for everyone! FYI- It can get very crowded here, so I recommend leaving early in the morning, or towards the evening.

Chautauqua is a beautiful historic park in Boulder. You will get the best views of the Flatirons here. You can grab a delicious meal at the Chautauqua Dinning Hall (they have a great patio), have a picnic in the large grassy area in the middle of the park, or take a hike into the mountains with the many hiking trails. Many people enjoy the Mesa Trail, that has great views, but not that steep. In the summer, you can even see a concert at the historic music hall. If you can't get tickets, some people make a picnic and sit near the hall to listen to the music under the stars. It's a must see. FYI- It can get very crowded here. Plan early morning, or early evening visits to avoid crowds. Insider’s tip: for hiking, never park in the parking lot or along Baseline-so crowded. We always park on 7th street off Baseline Rd. We always get a spot. May need to pay for parking with online app.

If you continue up Flagstaff road, you will see a right turn to the Amphitheater. Here you will find an outdoor theater with a great view of Boulder (15 min. drive from our house). Follow signs to Artist’s Point (to the left) and you will find my favorite place to have a picnic in town. Once you park, follow the small path to a picnic table with the most beautiful view in Boulder. You can see the Continental Divide from here. Simply breathtaking!

I know this doesn't sound really exciting, but this tea factory is a really fun visit. Celestial Seasonings is one of the largest manufactures of tea in the country. This factory, which is a 10 minute drive from downtown Boulder, is really interesting, and fun. They have great tours for visitors, and you can actually see the tea being made. It's good to go on a weekday so the factory is functioning. Perfect thing to do if the weather is not cooperating with you.

NCAR (The National Center for Atmospheric Research) is a wonderful place to visit. It's an iconic building in Boulder that you can see in the hills, but there are also many great hiking trails here. First do a quick visit to the NCAR building itself. They have self guided displays of the weather research done on site. This is also a wonderful place to do a hike. You can climb a peak here (Bear Peak/South Boulder Peak), Explore a small cave (Malary Cave), or even hike all the way to Chautauqua Park along the beautiful Mesa trail and walk down to the dining hall for a quick bite to eat.
