Rovaniemi Church is a beautiful church built in the 1950's. It's not that old, since most of Rovaniemi's buildings were burnt to the ground in the second world war, but still it is impressive in its own way.

Nature

Ounasvaara winter trail is an accessible walking path about 1.6 km from city centre to the east. Go and have a nice winter walk in absolutely beautiful snowy scenery. No special gear needed, just warm clothes and proper winter shoes.

Possibly the most beautiful view of the Ounasjoki river and the surrounging nature. Car is probably needed though and there is a bit of a trek to reach the place. There is a tepee with fireplace and other facilities.

Do not walk on the river ice! It's exciting but deadly.

Every year some people fall through the ice and it can be very dangerious. Watch the river from the bank but do not go onto ice. The ice where you can walk is usually somehow marked but if uncertain, don't go to the ice.

Tipping is not necessary.

The waiters are paid fairly in Finland. Of course if you feel like you want to tip waiters, go for it! They'll appreciate it.
Formes d'estalviar

The tap water is completely safe to drink.

We have one of the cleanest tap waters in the world so drink ahead! No need to buy bottled water, tap water is more likely cleaner any way.
Com moure's per aquí

You can walk basically everywhere in the city.

Only the airport, Santa Claus village and some activities are further away.

Cash isn't that necessary, debit/credit works everywhere

You probably don't need to carry any cash with you (at least not that much) since most shops and restaurants accept cards. I haven't carried cash with me in years.

Finnish alcohol policy

Fancy a bottle of wine or something stronger? You have to buy them in government-owned alcohol shops called Alko. Normal stores can sell alcohol products such as beer or cider as long as it is not above 5.5 percentage of alcohol. So that means wines and liquor are sold in those Alko shops. Alko's are not open on national holidays or sundays, so plan ahead if you want to buy something to take home!
