The closest pizzeria - get here early on a sunny weekend day as the outside tables go fast. Definitely worth a visit - although a chain, this is most certainly one of the nicest ones in town.

A really nice central London pub-style restaurant. Prince Harry often spotted here enjoying a low-key supper. Great service, tastefully decorated and not going to break the bank.

Malaysian takeaway - their Nasi Goreng and Thai Green Curry are definitely worth a try. Avoid the vegetable tempura at all costs. The word "soggy" doesn't come close to describing how bad they are!

Just across the river there are two pub/restaurants on the waterfront - lovely for an early evening drink when you can look west and see the sun setting behind Battersea Power Station.

This is a huge French Brasserie. Tucked safely underground (it's quite hard to find) you will need to book if you want a Friday night table (otherwise you can show and wait) - great value!

A pub, which is a boat on the river. Lively in the evenings, this place is definitely not posh, but on a summer's day you can sit over the river and enjoy the passing boats. Best at low-tide.

Part of a really nice chain of pubs/bars/restaurants (the Geronimo Inns Group) - this is the nearest Geronimo and it's a lovely place to pop in for a drink if you're passing through from Green Park.

One of my favourite hotels (now owned by Kempinski) - the bar here is staffed exclusively by French people (Benoit in charge) and it's a lovely American bar. Jackets mandatory for men after 5pm.

The nearest gym and pool - very smart and very well maintained. Worth signing up if you are in town for a prolonged period, and it's literally just around the corner.

About a 20 minute walk from the flat (though close enough that you can hear Big Ben when it tolls), the Houses of Parliament are a must-see on any visitor's agenda.

Again, about 20-25 minutes walk from the flat, be there for 10am to see the changing of the guard during the summer (only each second day in winter time) - get there early as it gets very busy!
