Nice, clean and spacious Hietsu beach just 2 km from the apartment. Rent a citybike just outside the culture factory Korjaamo (50 m from the apartment) and you will feel the warm sand between your toes in just 5 minutes. Or take a nice walk through Sibelius park and walk next to the shore to Hietsu beach just in 20 min enjoying a local ice-cream on the way. Outdoor gym, beach volley, showers, toilets free for everyone.

Sompasauna is a free, volunteer run, public sauna in Helsinki's industrial waterfront. How cool is that? Sompasauna is a wood-burning self-service public sauna, built and maintained by a group of volunteers in Helsinki. Visitors enjoy the sauna and swim in the sea at their own risk; there is no lifeguard or staff on-site. The sauna is open around the clock and free for everyone to use. LOCATION Sompasauna is located in Sompasaari Helsinki, a 15 minute walk from the Kalasatama metro station. Check out the Google map at the bottom of the page. WHAT TO BRING Visitors bring their own towel (swimsuit optional) and sauna beverages (note! No glass bottles allowed). An open-fire grill is also available to cook sausages. Firewood is usually available on site but, in winter, it’s advisable to buy a small bag of firewood from a 24h gas station or supermarket. Throwing freshwater on the stove is allowed. (no sea water!) In winter, it’s advisable to buy a canister of spring water from a 24h gas station or supermarket. SAFETY TIPS • Do not use the stove if you are not familiar with fireplaces • Be careful with sharp and slippery rocks on the seashore • Avoid swimming further than 15 meters from the shore • Do not throw sea water on the stove. Only use spring water Ask Finns for tips on how to enjoy sauna – they will gladly help you. Please remember to keep the sauna neat and tidy. Clean up after yourself and take your trash with you. Helsinki Swimming Stadium is an outdoor swimming venue located behind the Helsinki Olympic Stadium just a 950 meter walk from the apartment. Tickets adults 4,5 € and children 2,2 €. Note! Make sure you have 50 cent coin for the locker. Lockers ONLY take 50 cent coin, and you will get it back after your stay. The Swimming Stadium is a popular recreational venue for citizens. It is open from the beginning of May to the end of September. It is a popular place and in summertime it is visited by about 5,000 swimmers every day . The stadium has three pools: - 50 metre exercise swimming pool - childrens' pool - diving pool - a small, shallow, round wading pool for small children a little further away - divingboards 1, 3, 5, 7,5 ja 10 m - springboards 2 x 1 m, 3 m The area also has a - water slide* - indoor gym and small outdoor gym - basketball field - volleyball field - table tennis table - café * Waterslide is open between 4.6. - 12.8. between 12 -18 PM Half day ticket 5 €.
