There are some great coffee spots in Edinburgh. Here are a few of my favourites.
Some of the best coffee in Edinburgh is served here. Its not a big place though so you might not get a seat!

Things to do whilst in Edinburgh

Here are a few of my recommended to do activities whilst you are in Edinburgh - however it all depends on what you enjoy and want to get out of your visit to the City.
Take a wonder round the gardens on a nice day to take a break from the City and relax in very tranquil surroundings. Couple of cafes within the gardens to get a coffee or lunch.

If you are interested in history and getting a great view of the City at the same time then take a visit to Edinburgh Castle. You definitely need a couple of hours to make your visit worthwhile. Take a wonder down the Royal Mile exploring the closes off it and enjoy a coffee stop or wine along the way at one of the many bars/cafes. Cockburn Street has some nice non tacky gift shops - Liquorice Tree towards the bottom - if you need to get some gifts.

More relaxed than going out in town and recommendations are as follows: Finn & Bear - great for kids too Kings Wark - fab brunch Fishers on the Shore - fish restaurant Roseleaft - cocktails served in teapots, food also available The Royal Yacht Britannia is also docked in Leith so if you are keen on more history then check it out. It is a paid attraction. There is also a market on a Saturday.
