This bistro was one of the first Vietnamese restaurants opened in Prague. Years later there's a Vietnamese place on every corner, but this bistro remains the best! You can't really eat your food here (unless you enjoy eating standing up in a hot and steamy little bistro), but if you're too tired to cook or even sit in a restaurant, bring this takeaway piece of Vietnam back to the apartment. Prepare to stand in a long line of locals, but it's definitely worth the wait!

Žižkov is very welcoming to international cuisine, unlike the city centre. This bistro might be a little too "down to earth", but apparently it looks like any other restaurant in Sri Lanka. Us, the locals, welcome the international input into the very "monocultural" Prague.

The best (Czech) hot dogs in Prague. Don't expect anything sophisticated. The Czech hot dog is very simple: a bun, a sausage, ketchup, mustard or both. It costs next to nothing, it's not healthy at all, it won't fill you up but it's every local's guilty pleasure.

Krymská street is the hip place to be - there are a lot of bars and non-commercial clubs. I enjoy U Nováka, which looks like you entered someone's living room, Basement or Zenith.

Sightseeing

The Žižkov Tower might not be listed in your guidebook among the most obvious monuments, for the locals however it's more important than the notorious Astronomical clock. How can you tell a true local? He loves the TV tower and he never goes to Old Town Square.
