What really makes this square stand out is the surrounding buildings with there architectural beauty (Baroque expression). Of note is the statue of the holy trinity, another baroque art creation. Also the water fountain, which is sunken from view, back in the day, this fountain was one of only two water sources in the city. The story goes from our guide theses were both putrid, beer was seen as a safer option for all including children.

This square is a great place to hang out and visit within the old town. With the Opera house one end and the cathedral its opposite it is more like a regal boulevard than a square. Victory Square has on one side Timisoara Orthodox Cathedral and on the opposite side the Opera House, the Romanian, Hungarian and German Theatres. In between are many pubs and terraces, from Gelateria Bruno to Timisoreana Restaurants. A good place to drink a beer or a coffee or to eat an icecream during summer time. In the evenings are a lot of concerts.

This is a great museum in a spectacular old building. numerous sectors of periods of art, local and international. Theodor Pallady, Nicolae Grigorescu, Corneliu Baba and Iser are some of the artists displayed. The entrance is 10 lei (approx 2 EUR) and it is only closed on Mondays.

Casa Brück

This is a beautiful building with eclectic architectural features and has been beautifully restored. It stands out against its more traditional neighbours in the square. This was once a house of ill repute, it is now owned by a wealthy Italian who has restored the facade in an astonishing fashion.

Catedrala Metropolitana

It`s the most representative building for Timisoara. The cathedral was raised between 1936 and 1941. The Cathedral is an impressive building, both interior and exterior. It was built on hundreds of pillars stiffed on the swamp and has a traditional beautiful painting. It has 11 towers and also host a museum of holy arts. There is no charge, but try to leave a donation.

It was built on hundreds of pillars stiffed on the swamp and has a traditional beautiful painting. It has 11 towers and also host a museum of holy arts. There is no charge, but try to leave a donation.

Romanian National Opera House

Its an imposive building, facing the cathedral on the oposite side of this square. Very good acoustics, nice building in the center of Timișoara, a building from the late 1800s improved and consolidated in 1920s. The venue is incredible and offers unbelievable architecture, both internally and externally, especially at night! This appeared to be the place for most tourists, with many taking photos outside of the venue. You may see lots of gun holes on the upper part, left from the history of anti communism revolution.

Its an imposive building, facing the cathedral on the oposite side of this square. Very good acoustics, nice building in the center of Timișoara, a building from the late 1800s improved and consolidated in 1920s. The venue is incredible and offers unbelievable architecture, both internally and externally, especially at night! This appeared to be the place for most tourists, with many taking photos outside of the venue. You may see lots of gun holes on the upper part, left from the history of anti communism revolution.
