Food Scene

Just love the authentic Italian food served here, over 20 years old and service is always with a smile. Ask to be seated in the street level, i don't much care to be downstairs, it hasn't the same ambience. They have an early Bird special too, served late on Mon. Tues and Wed. Reasonable pricing and even their house wine tastes good. This is a 4 minute walk from the apartment on Parliament Street.

This is an Irish cafe and cake shop, great for breakfast, brunch or lunch. everything they serve is freshly made and baked, the one in Cow's Lane is closest to the apartment, 5 minute walk at the most. Always yummy and friendly.

Has terrific burgers and has a more American style menu. I started going here years ago as a poor student, when everything American was a novelty. But this place has character and is very popular so you might have to wait for a table the food is still terrific especially their burgers.

Tracadero is a very old restaurant, with charm and excellence in both food and service. It was the pre theatre restaurant that many people frequented and many stars would end up eating supper there. The walls are decorated with the photos of celebrities of yesteryear, which just adds to its charm. The food and wine are just excellent, but I would suggest making a reservation so you can get a table. Certainly a must for a special occasion too.

Parks & Nature

This should be named the 'Secret Garden' as so few Dubliners even know it exists. Well worth a stroll to if you want to get away from the crowd. Beautiful fountains and wide open green space.

An enormous park where deers roam free. it houses the Irish President's home and the home of the American Ambassador. In addition the Zoological Gardens are all located in this park. Take a rent a bike and head down Christchurch hill, turning left at the end and in less than 10 minutes you'll cross a bridge to your right, and left again leading to the gates of the Phoenix Park.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Adapted and Directed by Alexander Wright From Thursday 6th July. Irish Premiere The Gate is open as audiences dance into one of Jay Gatsby’s legendary parties. For summer 2017 only, the seats will be removed from the auditorium, and the chandeliers lowered, transforming the beautiful theatre space into the Gatsby Mansion with all its decadent opulence and atmosphere. Building on the Gate tradition of ‘page to stage’, this production will give the legendary 1920’s jazz age story a whole new spin offering a portal into Fitzgerald’s novel. Alexander Wright’s interactive, narrative led, freeform immersive experience played to great success in the UK

You have to make time to see The Book of Kells is the World's most famous medieval manuscript, dating back to the 9th century. It can be viewed at Trinity College, a 10 minute walk from the apartment. Best to fit this in, either late afternoon or morning, otherwise the lines can be long around mid day.
