On a sunny day make for Loch Morlich with its sandy beach and superb backdrop of the Cairngorm Mountains. The water of Loch Morlich, being fed from mountain streams, won't be super warm but it will be refreshing. The adventurous can try watersports. Lots of walking trails nearby in Glenmore Forest Park.

Sightseeing

It's not as well known as its near neighbour Balmoral which has restricted access in August. At Braemar you can walk around the grounds or take a guided tour of the inside.

Food Scene

Good and hearty Scottish fare with a busy bar with live music and right in the centre of Aviemore. The Winking Owl about 500m north is a good food and drink spot. Or for somewhere really local try Loch Insh Watersports bistro.

Shopping

While there are plenty of Scottish gift shops in Aviemore and locally, call in to The House of Bruar on your way here or on your way home. It has a huge variety of Scottish merchandise from outdoor clothing to jam. The restaurant has a good variety of food and there's even a fish and chip shop
