Towards Surfside is the Red Snapper Inn Restaurant. We love Snapper Inn for their seafood. You can also order takeout from them. The restaurant is dark and cozy and has an antiquated nautical feel to it. It has a different vibe than the restaurants on the water.

If you’d like a nice restaurant in Historic Galveston (steaks and seafood) we highly recommend Rudy and Paco (get a reservation and men are required to wear long pants!). It’s the only five-star restaurant in this part of Texas.

Galveston's Historic Strand District, or The Strand, is the heart of the island and a great place to shop, dine and be entertained. If you want to go into town in Galveston (25-35 min away)... We would recommend going to Old Downtown Galveston, “The Strand,” which has many restaurants, including Saltwater Grill, Fisherman’s Wharf and Joe’s Crab Shack.

There are many restaurants along the Seawall as you drive into Galveston from the house (before you get to the historic area). Jimmy’s on the Pier is a cheery eatery for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you can stroll out on the pier. Miller’s Seawall Grill is good. The Spot has a fun atmosphere and outdoor seating with a beach view. Also along the seawall are chains such as Landry’s and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. At more than 10 miles long and 17 feet high, Galveston’s seawall is the longest continuous sidewalk in the country and the world’s longest mural. Today, the iconic Seawall Boulevard is a happening place for beachgoers and serves as a gorgeous backdrop to a variety of shops, restaurants, attractions and gear rental stores—but this was not always the case. After the Great Storm of 1900 leveled Galveston, its resilient community devoted years of effort to raise the island and build the protective seawall that stands here today. Now, runners, cyclists, skaters and surrey riders decorate the seawall, inviting visitors to join in the fun.
