Neighborhoods

In Capri, I suggest to visit the Piazzetta and the sorrounding shopping area, especially Via Camerelle and Punta Tragara. I would also recommend visiting the Giardini di Augusto (very nice view, 20 minutes from the Piazzetta), Villa Jovis (remains of the imperial palace of Tiberius, 45 minutes walking from the Piazzetta), the Arco Naturale (30 Minutes from the Piazzetta).

• visiting Villa San Michele built by Axel Munthe (archaeologist, writer and doctor of the Swedish Royals): it is close to our house, has Roman archaeological findings, a great view and a delightful garden; • walking to the Eremo of the Cetrella, taking it right when you exit the house and walking uphill: in about 30 minutes you reach a tiny Franciscan monastery with a breathtaking view on the other side of the island; • walking in Via Orlandi (a pedestrian-only street) and visiting the San Michele church, with a beautiful and rather naïf tiled 18th century tiled floor portraying the Garden of Eden; • taking the Monte Solaro seatlift, enjoy the view from there, and possibly walk down – but you can also reach the mountain top on foot both from its bottom and from Cetrella; • walking to Punta Migliera (40 minutes from the village center, breath-taking view from the Belvedere; also walk into the pine grove on the left of the belvedere to reach a 2nd belvedere with an equally fantastic view over Marina Piccola) and dining at the Gelsomina restaurant (simple but good cooking, they know me well, so you can say that I directed you there); • taking the bus to the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra), where you can visit the grotto (to do so, you have to get on little boats able to enter the grotto and pay a quite steep fee); you can also take a swim without being charged (unless you want a chair) on the “beach” (actually just rocks) “da Giovanni a Gradola”.

Sightseeing

This is a great spot in the Summer to have a drink while the sun goes down. it i also one of the few spots where you don't have to pay to have a day at the "beach".

These days the only way to visit is to get a ticket and let the sailors outside the grotta bring you inside in tiny boats.
