Cute suburban feel pocket of Southeast Minneapolis. Tons of walking and bike paths that connect to the Grand Rounds biking loop. Plenty of shade at the lake, multiple beaches and lots of spots to grab a bite.

This is by far the best restaurant nearby, and considered one of the best Italian restaurants in town. Excellent, interesting dishes and cocktails.

One of the two places that claim to have invented the Juicy Lucy burger. A must-try if you like burgers! Very close, easy to walk to if you’d like.

The other place a tad further away straight up cedar about 20 blocks that claims to have the original Juicy Lucy. Much smaller spot with much smaller menu, but burger to burger Matt wins it by a nose over 5-8 Club.

Light Rail | Uber | Lyft

The Light Rail is handy for going downtown to avoid parking. Twins games, Vikings games, theater etc. however the nearest station (50th Street) is about 1.5 miles away so not everyone wants to walk quite that far, but weather permitting it’s not too bad. There are plenty of Uber and Lyft options as well that arrive pretty quickly, this is how we usually get to the airport, however coming from the airport it’s easiest to grab a cab as they’re lined up waiting at the airport and the regulations make the Uber and Lyft pickup spots kind of tricky and slower.

The Lakes!

Our place is essentially a block and a half across the street from Lake Nokomis on the Southwest side of the lake. The paths are well maintained, shady in most spots, and there are views of downtown across the lake with some beautiful sunsets and sunrises. It’s about 3 miles all the way around if you want to walk and there are bike rentals as well and scooter rentals all over the city (like Lime etc.) 2 public beaches, a large one with a decent spot to eat called Sandcastle and a smaller beach closer to our house. The large beach rents paddle boards, kayaks , surrey bikes and paddleboats.
