Hellnar, an ancient fishing village, is located on the westernmost part of Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It used to be one of area’s the largest fishing village and dates back to 1560. These days, Hellnar is mainly known for its many spectacular attractions, such as the peculiar caves that nature has carved out of the cliffs at Badstofa and Valasnös.

Þórsmörk is one of our favorite place in Iceland. You need a 4x4 jeep if you want to drive yourself but we also recommend taking a bus. There are a few travelling companies that offer trips to Þórsmörk. Perfect for hikers - and for the experienced hikers we recommend the 1-2 day hike ,,Fimmvörðuháls”.

A series of catastrophic eruptions formed these lakes over two millennia ago. The area now boasts a wealth of hidden gems you can reach by taking a tour of Myvatn. The lakes themselves are beautiful in their formation and the life that flourishes within them.

Grocery shopping

A grocery store called ,,Bónus" is the most affordable here in Iceland and located all around Iceland. ,,Krónan" is also quite affordable and comes as the second most affordable for grocery shopping in Iceland. Krónan has more varieties of meat, fruits, vegetables and vegan options. In the neighbourhood from Bjarkarás you can find a grocery store called ,,Fjarðarkaup" and in there you can find a pharmacy and a great variety of gluten free, sugarfree, vegan and organic groceries. Fjarðarkaup also sells some children clothing, smaller items for grownups like socks, underwear, sunglasses etc.
