Just minutes from the house, walk right up to the steps of the Capitol Building, circle from it every side, and be sure to stop to take in the Washington Monument on the West Side. It is perhaps most breathtaking at night.

Take a left on F Street, and then 2 blocks up 4th to arrive at the truly charming Stanton Park. You'll find a lovely playground for kids, dog walkers, outdoor yoga, and plenty of shade during the summer.
