The neighborhood

The cottage is located in Five Points, a historic neighborhood near downtown Denver. This area was home to the city’s black community for much of the twentieth century. The area was called the “Harlem of the West” and had a vibrant jazz scene until the 1960s. Recent development in the area has brought about significant changes, including breweries, bars, and restaurants in both the Welton Street corridor and River North/RiNo sections of Five Points.

Originally settled as a 'boom town' in the mining days, downtown Denver now boasts shops, restaurants, bars, breweries, sporting venues, and theaters. The heart of downtown is approximately one mile from the cottage. The 16th Street Mall is an easy starting point on a stroll through downtown. Larimer Square and Union Station are both great touristy stops!
