Camp Sherman is a great place to go (with a full tank of gas) to enjoy the forest service trails that can take you all over the place, seeking out new hiking trails, exploring, rivers, fisheries, etc. Take the dog with you.

Arts & Culture

Calling this a "museum" is a disservice. What a great place to visit on EVERY trip. The High Desert Museum has great rotating exhibits, very family friendly too. Not only that, they have outdoor exhibits of nature, animals, as well as live historical depictions. Overall, an amazing place. For families it is a "must-see", lots of fun.
