Stop here on your way to the lake for a bottle of wine, some yummy Vermont cheeses and a baguette from August First bakery...or come first thing in the morning for a breakfast sandwich and a cup of the house dark roast coffee.

#3 top pizzeria in Burlington, according to us...but as for location, they are #1. Local tip: if you can't get a spot at a window table, take your pizza out back to the patio of the attached brewery (Queen City Brewery). If you order a beer there, they're happy to let you bring a pizza.

Oh, the cheese! The wine! And a lovely lawn with picnic tables. Important, yet Little known fact: Dedalus makes gorgeous pastries at their sister shop in Stowe - which arrive at the Burlington location by around 10am every day.

In the south end of BTV, you have to choose sides: Myer's or Feldman's bagels. While Feldman's are great, we choose Myer's! An easy walk up to Shelburne Road from our house. Don't miss the Montreal bagel!

My favorite beer here is the Connector Ale. On your way here from our house, keep your eye out for the Filing Cabinet sculpture - then look at the logo for the Connector Ale and you'll see the connection. This is a great IPA, (https://www.switchbackvt.com/connector-ipa) but actually you can't go wrong with any of their beers. They have a fantastic patio and on weekends there's often music. (If you're lucky, you'll catch our friends' band 'Bad Accent' playing - they should be famous by now! https://open.spotify.com/artist/4rlGKU9oyIEaDfTm6IYA1K). The food menu here is limited to dogs and snacks, but it's all good. Plan ahead, they close early.

Great food and awesome beer..and their patio is THE place to be when the sun is shining. I love the Little Wolf and the Conehead - but try for yourself and decide! Be sure to check out the amazing tile work inside the restaurant - done by our friend E.H. himself.

Lovely beer, quiet patio. Try the Barge Canal Oatmeal Extra Stout, and ask the barkeep to tell you about the Barge Canal, Burlington's very own Superfund site.

Outdoor activity

This is the locals' beach. Very mellow, families & students come here to picnic, swim, or play in the sand. You can rent a stand-up paddleboard for a fun adventure! Make sure to take a walk along the bike path down to the rocks, and over to the accessible treehouse (https://enjoyburlington.com/place/oakledge-park-2/).

A short bike ride or jog from our house, this park features walk/run trails (sorry, Mt. bikes not allowed) and a beach. Great views over Shelburne Bay and the Green Mountains. A real oasis- located in a cute, off-the-beaten-path neighborhood in South Burlington.

Coffee

A Pine Street institution. Best coffee: Italian Roast. If you go any morning before 9am you’ll probably see our friend E.H. at one of the tables to the left of the door, having coffee and reading the NYTimes. He’ll tell you that his second favorite coffee place in BTV is on our patio!

Tucked away in a space that also houses an art gallery and a yoga studio, among other small businesses, Nomad coffee is a sweet find. Go here for your specialty coffee on the way to the lake, but take time to explore the beautiful brick building and the art inside.

Not only does the flagship store have delicious chocolate and confections, but the café boasts amazing espresso drinks and small-batch ice cream. There is something for everyone, with products changing seasonally and plenty of vegan options! With only a few exceptions, all of the products are ethically made with local ingredients - the factory is only 10 minutes away in Williston, VT. The company is even a certified B corporation. The price is worth it, and walking out empty-handed is nearly impossible.

Sightseeing

If you stop to gather the real story on this eclectic piece of art, you'll learn that it's also a statement on government bureaucracy. Originally created for SEABA's 2002 Art Hop, it stood precisely on the center-line of the South End's would-be connector highway (see info on my favorite beer at Switchback!)... until being relocated in 2020. Over the years, sunflowers have bloomed out of the open drawers, and birds and squirrels have nested in the cabinets. Love it or hate it, it's here to stay!

Burlington Bike Path

This is an 8-mile path along Lake Champlain that starts at Oakledge Park and ends where the Winooski River enters the lake in the north end of the city. Gorgeous views.
