Leisure and Relaxation

Fairfield Park is the perfect destination for relaxing on the banks of the Yarra River. The park is a popular tourist attraction, with the Fairfield Boathouse and Amphitheatre within. Relax while rowing a boat or paddling a canoe along the peaceful Yarra waters, or enjoy a stroll through the park. It is the ideal spot for a picnic, with BBQ facilities available. There's also plenty of open grassed areas to get active, as well as being close to public transport.
Take some bread and feed the ducks or have a bbq picnic with friends.

The Westgarth Picture Theatre opened to the public in 1921. Incorporating Art Deco style with classical features, it's the oldest purpose built cinema in operation in Melbourne. The building was heritage listed in 1994 by the National Trust of Australia. Current owners Palace Cinemas purchased the building in 2006, two extra cinemas were added, and the building renovated, in keeping with its unique architectural heritage. Head to the Palace Westgarth for local and international new releases and art-house films, screened within its five cinemas. If the weather's fine, enjoy a flick in the theatre's courtyard, accompanied by a pair of headphones and premium beverage.

Stomping Ground Brewing Co. After many, many visits to this steampunk-lite brewery from the team at The Local Taphouse, we've come to the conclusion there's no style brewer Ashur Hall can't master. If you're settling in for a long session, the basics – pale ale, lager – are flavoursome yet drinkable. There’s a great comfortable food menu to match and the vibe on a busy night is great.

There’s great recreational tracks for walking, cycling as well as canoeing. Visit the Fairfield boat house or take a stroll through the back streets to Station street and eat at many of the cafes. Oasis for Middle Eastern goods and delicacies, Nikkos for an impressive cake selection, A1 for Lebanese pastries, Gusto vanilla slice and Brazen dessert bar. As well as gourmet meat and fresh produce shops.

"The Elysian Whisky Bar is a small and cosy whisky and cocktail bar located on the lower end of Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. About 350 bottles of rare and interesting whiskies on the shelves, with a focus on Independent Bottlings from around the world. Playing jazz and old classics most nights, do drop by to enjoy a relaxing night with some great drinks. We are all about sourcing rare and unique bottlings of whiskies from around the world! Our bar design and service is based a lot on bars in Japan, where some of the most amazing whisky bars are located. We just want to bring a taste of that Japanese bar culture back here in Fitzroy and Melbourne, and maybe jog a bit of nostalgia in those that have been over there and experienced it!"

FOUR seasons in a day.

It’s true except mostly in Summer but throughout the year you don’t know what a day can bring. We suggest wearing layers and peeling them or adding them off throughout the day. A portable compact umbrella can be handy in your handbag too especially between May-Sept.
