If you're sore from all the physical woes of travel and need a quick muscle kneading you can pop in here at the mall--no calls or reservations needed. Over the clothes, about $1/minute. Bring cash.

If you need to get in a run while you're here this is a nice ~1 mile asphalt loop ~1 mile from the house with cute off leash dogs to look at. There's little tree cover and no water so you'll need to bring your own. There is a Port-a-Potty. If you prefer to train on aggressive hills, try taking AnnaMaria Dr to AltaVista Dr up to City View Dr and down Fox Run Dr. This is the neighborhood just to the northwest of us across 5th St (you will run past Black Hills Surgical Hospital). I don't know how long this loop is.

Pop in at will and check out the hotel lobby for some interesting history and unique Native American details. Find some real treasures in the gift shop. If you can find a way to get up to the rooftop bar you'll be rewarded with some one of a kind views of Rapid City. My bf said of this allegedly haunted locale, "Come for the swastikas, stay for the shining."

Pop up bars in the summertime and primarily during the big motorcycle rally. Parking is tough during the rally unless you're okay with long walks. There's a motorcycle museum but the town as a whole does not seem like a great tourist stop other than during the rally.

Medium-length & high intensity but not especially technical hike, incredible scenic views (basically what they would show you on some of the helicopter rides). Best to go very early in the morning, of course. Bring plenty of water. Bathroom facilities and a little lake are at the base (you can take my beach towels if you want to swim or picnic there). Usually plenty of parking but it can get quite crowded on weekends and holidays.
