Great little place with more unique menu items than your standard Pad Thai fare. A short walk from my house.

Closest food cart pod. My go-to cart there is Chowdah's. Heavenly grilled cheese sandwiches. The Parmesan crusted bread is a nice touch, and you can't beat the price. Their soups are amazing too, perfect for a rainy day lunch.

Newer Italian eatery in St. John’s. Sprung from a food cart, it is now a brick and mortar, and is housed in what was formerly an old mechanic’s shop. Fresh pasta, sandwiches, meatballs as big as your fist! They source from local farmers and vendors. Open kitchen so you can see what’s cookin’. Garage style doors open to patio.

Closest place to enjoy sandy shores. This park sits at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. Beautiful spot to wade in the water, sunbathe, and people-and-dog watch.

Amazing view of Portland from atop this dormant volcano. A beloved summertime tradition is to watch the Soapbox Derby here. It is quite the spectacle to see the 40 + hand-built coaster cars race down the curves of Mt. Tabor.

Longtime family-owned butcher. Grab a pepperoni stick while you browse the large selection of premium beef, pork and poultry. And yes, I consider bacon to be an essential item. The staff is super knowledgeable and very friendly.

Strange but wonderful bar where you can play pool or ping pong, and lounge in the huge back patio that has a “basement of That 70’s Show” feel to it, despite being outdoors. Best part is that no one seems to know about this treasure, and you often have the place to yourself. Relax in one of the oversized salmon-hued booths and soak up the ambiance.
