Eating out

Some hints around the apartment and also some of my favorite places around the city. Enjoy!
Sintesis is my favorite restaurant in the city. It's a small and hidden place in Recoleta neighborhood where you can go to heaven with stuff like Tiradito de salmon, Gyozas, Ebi mango roll, Pepper salmon (don't miss this one), the Sintesis sushi plate, or the best ramen in western hemisphere. Chef Oscar Lin may also surprise you with one of his signature cocktails. While you eat, you'll be listening to John Coltrane, Miles Davis & friends, and watching the exhibition of a local visual artist (each 6 months there's a new one). Unmissable. But do reserve in advance.

A truly unique experience. Musician and sommelier Javier Cohen transforms his basement/wine cellar/office into a magical space where 12 people gather around the best Argentinian wines and the best music. Javier takes guests into a journey throughout the course of a delicious dinner, in which he explains the fundamentals of music composition and serves and explains the best local wines. At the end of the meal, Javier plays guitar live, often accompanied with local musicians friends, into a unique jam session of tango & jazz. The space itself is situated in a historic 19th Century house exquisitely renovated, and the basement displays Javier’s private cellar, a high end stereo system where music from his extensive collection sounds like musicians had intended it to sound, and in top of that, there’s also amazing contemporary art in the walls. A must for wine and music lovers visiting Buenos Aires. Don’t forget to reserve in advance since events only take place once every week or two.

An old pasta factory in the now trendy Villa Crespo neighborhood was turned into a restaurant by the original owners’ sons. The place has that authentic vibe and, most importantly, the food is great

Jazz Clubs

If you're into Jazz, you're lucky: Buenos Aires has a great scene and shows are amazingly cheap. Here are some of my favorites.
The best Jazz in Buenos Aires often happens here: a very small club (with a great, warm sound) at an Art deco signature building in Palermo neighborhood. You can go for diner at the first show or for a drink at the midnight show. And after that order another drink: if you're lucky, the musicians will start a casual jam session.

Tango at the Glorieta

Just 2 blocks away from the apartment, at the top of Barrancas de Belgrano Park, you can go to the Glorieta to see locals dancing tango and folklore. It usually happens on weekend evenings, from 17.30 on.
