A breathtaking avenue sheltered by live oaks and Spanish moss leads to the tabby ruins of Wormsloe, the colonial estate of Noble Jones (1702-1775), one of the first settlers of Savannah in 1733. While not much is left, Wormsloe's tabby ruin is the oldest standing structure in Savannah. The real reason to go is the beautiful row of live oaks and the quaint community around it!

Oatland Island is Savannah's own little zoo, but just like every thing here, it's a little different. Sprawling across the island there are large enclosures holding a variety of native Georgia wildlife such at Bobcats and Bald Eagles, and Grey Wolves. There are also education programs at the large main house.

One of our favorite places to watch a sunset, The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge is a breathtakingly beautiful place just north of Savannah. While the Refuge is massive and includes parts of Georgia and South Carolina, there is also a four mile loop that can be driven by car. the best place to chill out in Starland. DJ every Saturday night, rotation of all the food trucks in the area, a pizzeria and serving up the best local brews.

A true local Savannah business, Savannah Bee Company is a must visit. Though they've gotten bigger and more widely known in the past few years it's still the same little company run by Ted the beekeeper. Be sure to visit the original store on Broughton St. and be extra special sure to go in for the mead tasting!

The Book Lady is probably the nicest bookstore in the whole south east and a perfect place to stop for book lovers or anyone else. Specializing in used and antiquarian books, it's nestled in a step down on Liberty St. and is as cozy and eclectic as you'd hope a used bookstore to be. Stop in and say hello to Joni (The Book Lady)!

Graveface is a wonderfully bizarre independent record store in the Starland District. Ostensibly it's a new and used vinyl shop but in practice it's a whole lot more, and a delightfully strange experience to boot. If your interest is piqued by taxidermy bats and vintage Eurythmics albums, you owe it to yourself to go.

One of the coolest local businesses in town, Planet Fun is exactly what it sounds like. A whole planetoid of fun stuff! Actually, it's a vintage toy store with a high focus on the late 70s through the 90s and an incredible collection of rare and antique video games and memorabilia but it's still worth checking out.

Now in the old Primary Art Supply building (everything in Savannah used to be something else), Civvie's is an awesome little used, vintage and consignment clothing shop with a smattering of other interesting things. The downstairs is even an antique store!
