a great nature center on the north side of the lake that has an indoor learning area, along with several trails and outdoor activities for the family. Saturday mornings they always have a cute, free craft for kids to do.

We were pleasantly surprised by this small zoo for rescued wild animals located in Moonridge. Usually open 10-5, $12 for adults/$9 kids. Some really neat animals live there- grizzly bears, a snow leopard, wolves, and eagles.

one of the most popular hiking trails, and only 2.5 miles from our cabin off of Big Bear Blvd. It is a mile out and back, and we did the whole thing in an hour at a fairly slow pace. There are parts that are pretty steep, but the view from the top is pretty epic. It is dog friendly and fairly well marked.

great views and a well-marked, dog-friendly path. We usually hike for 5 miles, but I think you can go much farther.
