Food Scene

Great neighborhood restaurant to go for dinner, or just an appetizer and a drink. Known more for dinner, but they also have an espresso bar and light breakfast, a convenient location to stop on your way out of town! Fun fact: some of wood in the modern building is reclaimed from a fish cannery on the Kenai Peninsula that operated in the 1920s.

One of our favorite places to eat in Anchorage! Known for their Pacific Rim Cuisine, you can't go wrong ordering anything off the menu. A fun place to go for a cocktail, pretty modern feel for Alaska.

Parks & Nature

From our place it's 2 blocks to the Coastal Trail (via Marston-Pete's Place). Walk along the trail to Westchester Lagoon, a hub of summer activity for a park, bird (and people) watching, and a gorgeous view of the skyline with water and mountains. The Lagoon is less than 2 miles from our place, and we have maps, and google will get you there as well. Walk there and stretch your legs after hours of travel!

One of our favorite places to walk close to our house. If you drive to the main park signed entrance, walk down the trail, down the big hill and follow the interpretive signs for the 1964 Earthquake. It's amazing to see how the 9.2 earthquake impacted this area.

The place to go for outdoor gear for your Alaskan adventures! It's a consignment shop, so some items are lightly used, some new. Across the street from new gear shops too if you can't find what you want.

La Bodega is a great little beer/wine/sake shop with local alcohol to pick up, and about 5 minutes from our place. There is a larger La Bodega with a bigger selection on Benson.
